St. Louis
Infant School
Christmas 2011
All parents are cordially invited to our Christmas Plays on Friday
December 16th 2011.
Timetable as follows:
Junior Infants Concert
9.45am
Senior Infants Concert
10.30am
First Class Concert
11.15am
Traditionally, parents have taken their children home after the
concert as they can be tired after the performance. Parents are free
to do so this year as in previous years.
If however, you wish to leave your child in school, supervision will
be arranged.
There is no charge for the concert. Instead we ask parents to donate
non-perishable foodstuffs for the poor of Dublin. These foodstuffs
are given to the Missionaries of Charity, South Circular Road, who
distribute them to the needy in the South Inner City. Foodstuff may
be left in the boxes on the turn of the stairs.
DVD’s of Concert:
This year we hope to have a DVD of the Christmas Concert, produced
by Mr. Ed. D’Arcy, the school photographer. This DVD will be
available in the school the week following the concert at a cost of
€15.
Midnight Mass 2011:
RTE 1
Midnight Mass will be broadcast on RTE 1 Television on Christmas Eve
at 11.00pm. As part of this venture a TV crew from RTE1 filmed our
First Classes and, also, the St. Louis Orchestra, Senior Recorder
Group and Senior Choir last Friday. We look forward to seeing them
being featured on the introduction to the Mass. So don’t forget to
tune in or to set your DVD recorder.
Christmas Eve Children’s Mass, Dec. 24th
at 6.00pm.
Rathmines parish organises a children’s mass on Christmas Eve. There
is full participation by children of the parish and the school.
A practice for children in preparation for the mass will be held on
Tuesday 20th Dec at 1.40pm, directly after school. The
practice takes place in the church and all families are invited to
attend.
Art Display & Christmas Tree of Coins
The Parents’ Association of St. Louis Infant School have been very
busy in recent weeks. The Art Display was an outstanding success and
many parents purchased the masterpieces on display.
The Christmas Tree of Coins,
one of our biggest fundraisers, was a great success again this year.
We thank the Steering Committee of the Parents’ Association for
their hard work in organising these events. We would also like to
thank the many parent volunteers who helped to count the coins.
While it was very hard work it was also a great opportunity for chat
and banter and the community spirit that is the hallmark of St.
Louis Schools, Rathmines, was evident throughout the day.
A particular thanks to SANTA who interrupted his busy schedule to be
on hand in Room 5 to meet pupils as they came to visit with their
cartons of coins.
Christmas Festive Concert: Sunday Dec.
18th 3.30pm – 5.30pm.
A festive treat is in store for music lovers and aspiring performers
on Sun. Dec. 18th from 3.30pm – 5.30pm. The concert takes
place in Halla Cullen and is organised by the Music Department of
St. Louis Schools.
The concert will feature the St. Louis Orchestra under the baton of
Ms. Marion Ryan. This orchestra has grown from a fledgling ensemble
to a full-scale orchestra in recent times. The orchestra comprises
both current pupils and past pupils.
Several recorder ensembles from St. Louis Senior Primary School will
also feature as will soloists on a wide variety of instruments.
Pupils from the Rostrevor School of Dance, directed by Ms. Cathy
Dooley, Ballet Teacher, will also perform. This promises to be a
wonderful musical feast and will conclude with refreshments & mince
pies for all.
We express our thanks to the many parents who have contributed so
generously to our Annual Voluntary contributions appeal. We are
aware that many families may be hard-pressed financially this season
but the Board of Management really appreciates the generosity of the
many parents who gave donations large and small.
Holiday arrangements:
The school will close at 12 o’clock on Thursday December 22nd
2011.
Please inform your childminder or crèche of this arrangement as
pupils become quite distressed if they are not collected on time.
We will be having a Christmas assembly for all children in the
school on Thursday 22nd Dec. Children will dramatise the
Christmas Story and a special visitor will arrive with treats. Ho!
Ho! Ho!
The school will re-open on
Monday January 9th
2012.
Attendance and punctuality:
We congratulate all the boys and girls who arrive at school on time
every day.
However, a small number of pupils arrive late on a regular basis.
The school will be in contact shortly with those parents whose
children constantly arrive late.
The school will also be in contact with the parents of those
children who have missed a significant amount of days this term.
Every day and every moment is important for your child’s education
at St. Louis Infant School.
Parking on William’s Park:
We thank parents and minders for their co-operation in relation to
parking on William’s Park. Keeping the approach road clear will
ensure that our children are safe.
Christmas is a magical time at St. Louis Infant School. All of our
pupils are very busy preparing for the Christmas Play and we know
that it will be a very festive occasion.
Santa has asked me to tell the boys and girls to go to bed very
early every night, and especially on Christmas Eve. He also asked me
to tell them to eat their fruit and vegetables and not to eat junk
food before Christmas.
On behalf of all of us here at St. Louis Infant School, Rathmines, I
take this opportunity to wish you all a happy and peaceful
Christmas. Take time to be with your loved ones, do relax and
unwind.
May the peace of Christ be in all your hearts and homes this
Christmas.
